PARACHUTE. Cardiac Arrest Detection and Alerting system for Athletes

Phone App for Rapid ACtion in Human Unconsciousness Threat during Exercise

PARACHUTE automatically detects unwitnessed cardiac arrest taking place during exercise and automatically alerts predetermined relatives or close friends via multiple SMS with embedded GPS data for one-click navigation to the scene.

1-minute Heart Rate Recovery is also semi-automatically measured and graphed by the app.

PARACHUTE not only reliably monitors and detects the occurrence of a cardiac arrest during running, cycling or other outdoor sports, but through automatic alert of chosen contacts through SMS text messaging containing GPS exact coordinates of the cardiac arrest scene it may guide the emergency rescue team to the cardiac arrest location, by so doing shortening the time to rescue defibrillation, the main determinant of survival and prognosis.

PARACHUTE is an innovative app, the first of its kind, which is capable to start the initial step of the chain of survival in subjects who fall unconscious due to sudden cardiac arrest while exercising, which is particularly useful if they use to practice in relatively solitary places, where bystanders are not usually available. Only a standard BluetoothLE chest strap heart rate sensor is required and you can then activate PARACHUTE, from now on running on the iOS smartphone while the subject is safely exercising. PARACHUTE runs in the background, so that the subject can use other apps he may want to use during physical activity (music, fitness apps, anything) and PARACHUTE is able to automatically and reliably detect a sudden, unexpected cardiac arrest occurring during outdoor sports, like running and cycling, within 30 seconds, thanks to an innovative patent-pending cardiologists-designed algorithm taking advantage of few variables, among which continuous heart rate monitoring and motion are key. This app is conceived and tested by internationally renowned cardiologists.
